1975 Prudential Cup match between IND vs NZ
It was the first time the World Cup had been held. The event, which had 60 players per team, took place in England. India won the toss and elected to bat first against New Zealand in their match at Old Trafford in Manchester. Syed Abid Ali scored the most runs for India with 70, helping them to 230 for 10 in 60 overs. In response, New Zealand relied on Man-of-the-Match Glen Turner’s unbeaten 114-run century to win the game by four wickets with seven balls remaining.

IND vs NZ, 1979 Prudential Cup
In 1979, Headingley, Leeds, hosted the second World Cup match between IND vs NZ. The toss was won by New Zealand, who chose to bowl. No Indian batsman could score more than 38 runs, and the team was out in 55.5 overs for 182 runs, with Sunil Gavaskar leading the way with 55 runs for India. IND vs NZ, 1987 Reliance World Cup
India hosted the inaugural 50-over World Cup, which was also played in a 50-over style. India would face New Zealand twice in the 1987 Reliance World Cup. The fact that India was able to defeat the Kiwis twice was impressive in their favor. Man-of-the-Match Kapil Dev played an undefeated quickfire innings of 58 balls for 72 runs, Navjot Singh Sidhu top-scored with 75 runs, and Kiran More played a blazing unbetean innings of 26 balls for 42 runs as India scored 252 for 7 in 50 overs while competing at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. In response, New Zealand’s captain Andrew Jones and opener Ken Rutherford each hit 75 runs, but the team still fell 16 runs short of the objective despite taking two wickets. It was India’s first World Cup victory over New Zealand.

IND vs NZ, Benson Hedges World Cup 1992
For the first time, the World Cup was held in Australia and New Zealand, and the Kiwis’ heroic semifinal run under Martin Crowe’s captaincy will live in infamy. New Zealand chose to bowl first at their home field in Carisbrook, Dunedin, after winning the toss. In the fourth ICC World Cup to be held in England, India and New Zealand advanced to the Super Six round. At Trent Bridge in Nottingham, India’s captain Azharuddin elected to bat after winning the toss. Only Ajay Jadeja was able to valiantly take on the New Zealand pace attack, leading India to 251 for 6 in 50 overs with a maximum score of 76 runs. In response, New Zealand easily chased down the mark in 48.2 overs with five wickets in hand with to Matt Horne’s 74 runs and Man-of-the-Match Roger Twose’s unbroken 66 runs.

At Centurion Park in Centurion, South Africa’s first World Cup, India played New Zealand. Sourav Ganguly, the captain of India, decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Man-of-the-Match As he returned with figures of 4 for 42 in 8 overs, Indian pacer Zaheer Khan demolished New Zealand’s top- and middle-order, aiding the side in limiting New Zealand to 146 all out in 50 overs. With only 21 runs on the board, India lost the wickets of Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sourav Ganguly. However, Mohammad Kaif (68 not out in 129 balls) and Rahul Dravid (53 not out in 89 balls) played patient yet consistent innings, and India won the match by seven wickets in 40.4 overs.

IND vs NZ, ICC World Cup 2019
At Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, India and New Zealand would play one final World Cup game. Ross Taylor (74 runs off 90 balls) and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson (67 runs off 90 balls) led their team to 239 for 8 wickets in 50 overs. Man-of-the-match With the assistance of Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry completed India’s top order.

With only five runs scored, India lost their first three wickets, and when half the squad arrived at 71 runs, they were out. While MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja combined for 116 runs for the seventh wicket and 50 runs off 72 balls, respectively, it was too late to mount a comeback. Once they were out, it took little for New Zealand to win the match by 18 runs.
