There was a point when rumors circulated that the former had moved out of his house and was living apart from his parents. Indeed, on numerous instances, both of them have shared anecdotes about one another, implying that everything is not well with the father-son combo.
Ranbir Kapoor told a tale about his father, Rishi Kapoor, and actor Sanjay Dutt in an old interview with DNA. Ranbir worked on Sanjay Dutt’s biopic in the 2018 film, Sanju, for the uninitiated. During his interview, Ranbir revealed how his father, Rishi Kapoor, chastised Sanjay Dutt for gifting the former’s son an expensive Harley Davidson motorcycle. Ranbir, recalling Rishi’s words, stated, “I remember I had to hide it from Papa for a long time as he doesn’t like bikes. When he found out that Sanjay sir had gifted me one, he called him and fired him. He told him, ‘Stop spoiling my son, isko tere jaisa mat bana.’ But now, he’s aware that I have the bike. It is one of my most prized possessions.”

Along the same lines, Ranbir Kapoor discussed his affectionate relationship with Sanjay Dutt. He added that one of his cherished assets was the Harley Davidson bike that the latter had given him for his birthday. Furthermore, he remembered Sanjay taking him on late-night trips in his Ferrari. In his own words, “He gave me a Harley Davidson motorcycle for my birthday. He used to pick me up for a drive in his Ferrari late in the night. It seems life has come a full circle with him when I got an opportunity to portray him on screen. Initially, I didn’t have the confidence to play the part. However, when Raju sir shared the script with me, I discovered a human side to Sanjay sir. It’s not the Sanjay Dutt we know. I’ve a lot more admiration and respect for him now.”

Sanju, Ranbir Kapoor’s 2018 film, was a perfect ode to actor Sanjay Dutt’s broad life, and the former did the latter complete credit as he stepped into his shoes. During the promotion of the same film, Ranbir confessed that he suffered from a ‘Sanjay Dutt hangover’ after mimicking Sanjay Dutt in his biography.
