Pierce Brosnan, the actor, has been charged for trespassing into a thermal region of Yellowstone National Park in November 2023.
The character James Bond is accustomed to difficult circumstances, but actor Pierce Brosnan might face prison time after reportedly putting himself in danger by trespassing in a Yellowstone National Park area. Rangers with the National Park Service accused Pierce Brosnan, 70, of wandering into an out-of-bounds thermal region at the Mammoth Hot Springs near the Wyoming-Montana boundary on Tuesday.

The hot springs, which comprise different high-temperature geysers, steam vents, and mud pots along a mineral-encrusted slope, are among of Yellowstone’s most magnificent visual attractions. Yellowstone’s thermal activity is vast and has endured for thousands of years. According to two federal citations acquired by numerous sources, the alleged incident involving Brosnan happened on Nov. 1, when the Tomorrow Never Dies star was in the park for a leisurely stroll.
Pierce Brosnan was accused of abandoning the area’s boardwalk to cross onto the delicate land of Mammoth Hot Springs. He was formally charged with “foot travel in all thermal areas and w/in Yellowstone Canyon confined to trails” and “violating closures and use limits.”

The actor has not officially addressed the incident. Brosnan may face significant penalties and up to six months in prison. Brosnan, who portrayed James Bond from 1995 to 2002, has been summoned before a Wyoming court on January 23, 2024.
Despite several warning signs in the area near Mammoth Hot Springs, many Yellowstone tourists have been recorded entering off-limits zones. Hot springs, which may reach boiling temperatures, have gravely burnt some travellers. More than 20 individuals have died as a consequence of burns sustained after going or falling into the park’s hot springs, according to Yellowstone. Yellowstone’s thermal pools have long been a source of concern for tourists, with the park emphasising that “the ground in hydrothermal areas is fragile and thin, and there is scalding water just below the surface.”
