Aishwarya Rai said that Salman Khan was cast as her on-screen brother in the film ‘Josh’ while the two were dating.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a fantastic actress in Bollywood. Throughout her two-decade career, the actress has captured many hearts with her superb performance. Aishwarya has romanced practically every major actor in Bollywood, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Akshay Kumar, and has worked well on screen with each of them.
Salman Khan was the initial choice to play Aishwarya Rai’s brother in the film Josh
Aishwarya Rai romanced Chandrachur Singh in the 2000 film Josh, directed by Mansoor Khan. She plays SRK’s sister in the movie. Although the picture did not impress the audience, the casting became the talk of the town. Interestingly, it was the first time Shah Rukh and Aishwarya shared the screen, but not as lovers. Instead, they played Josh’s brother and sister. However, few people realize that Salman Khan was the original choice to play Aishwarya’s brother in the film.
Aishwarya Rai revealed that Salman Khan was to be cast as her on-screen brother
Recently, we came across a video of Aishwarya Rai in which she revealed that Mansoor Khan wanted to make the film with Salman and Aamir. She told an entertainment blog that while her role in the film was set, the filmmaker choose to cast Salman instead of Shah Rukh and Aamir instead of Chandrachur Singh. In her words, “I think the cast was meant to be Aamir [Khan] and Salman at one point and eventually it became Shah Rukh and I think Aamir (Khan) at some point was to play Chandrachur (Singh)’s role. So the cast kept changing at different points of time but Sherly remained Sherly. So I had said yes to Mansoor (Khan).”
Interestingly, during the time, Aishwarya Rai was dating Salman Khan. The two met on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and quickly fell in love. Back then, the two painted the town red with their PDA, and their fans loved them. However, after a few years together, they split up in 2001.
Aishwarya Rai revealed that she did not walk out of Bajirao Mastani
Initially, Sanjay Leela Bhansali planned to cast Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the film Bajirao Mastani. Back then, there were speculations that Aishwarya pulled out of the project because she didn’t want to work with Salman, with whom she had split up. However, during an appearance on Karan Johar’s chat programme, Koffee With Karan, Aishwarya revealed why she did not sign the film Bajirao Mastani. She revealed that Sanjay was eager to cast her and Salman Khan together after they performed well in the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Aishwarya explained why things didn’t work out. She said, “He (Sanjay) did see us working as the cast that he saw was ideal for the film. But circumstantially, I could not work with the kind of team he was looking at.”
Similarly, Aishwarya Rai stated that she was willing to play the character of ‘Mastani’ but did not want to work with her ex-boyfriend, Salman Khan. She did, however, add that news of Aishwarya leaving Bajirao Mastani quickly spread throughout the media. Aishwarya revealed that she was admitted to the hospital at the time and was unable to clear the air about the situation.
“Well, I was game to play Mastani but not with the Bajirao he had in mind. So, this was evident probably nationally. The media made it out to be that Aishwarya walks out of Bajirao Mastani. We hadn’t communicated then because I was in hospital with my leg laid up.”
