When asked about the line in the song that refers to her as ‘a bit high-maintenance’, the singer of Single Soon explained the attributes a person would need to have to date her during an interview with SiriusXM Hits 1 LA with Tony Fly and Symon.
She stated, I think I have standards. And I think I live in a world right now where boys confuse standards with high-maintenance. It really isn’t . But the line was really fun because I’m not ashamed to say, ‘I actually require x, y, and z for you to be with me.’ So, in a way, it was just meant to be for the attitude of the song. And that’s genuinely how I feel.
Selena Gomez’s Single Soon is about feeling at ease in your own self
Selena’s new song is about moving on from a previous romance. In the same interview, she explained that Single Soon is about anticipating the end of a relationship. It’s a fun dance routine about feeling at ease in your own flesh. The singer is shown in the music video having a night out with her single pals, which perfectly depicts her real-life girls’ nights out.
She stated, It’s so much fun. I mean, you know, my friends will just pick (me) up and wanna go somewhere. We’ll take an hour and a half drive out of the city, and then we’ll end up, you know, staying at a place, and meeting new people and going out to eat. I’m so enjoying my 30s, so I feel lovely.

Selena Gomez, the singer-actress, revealed that she has accepted her single status. If and when she finds a relationship, he or she will add to her life rather than take away her insecurities.
