According to the survey, 55% of Indians have a very positive opinion of Prime Minister Modi, who has been in office since 2014 and is running for re-election in the general elections that are set for next year.
Only one in five Indians, according to the report, think negatively of Prime Minister Modi.
Approximately 68% of Indians think that India’s influence has grown during the past few years.
According to a Pew Research Centre research, “those who support the ruling parties in the National Democratic Alliance (which includes PM Modi’s party, the BJP) are much more likely to say India’s influence is on the rise.”
According to the survey, men are also more inclined than women to think that India is becoming more powerful on the international stage.
The study, which was performed between 20 February and 22 May 2023 and included 30,861 respondents from 24 countries, including India, provided the main findings.
Russia as seen by Indians
According to a Pew Research Centre survey, a majority of Indians think that Russia’s influence has grown internationally, with roughly four out of ten thinking that this has happened recently.
Indians are the only nation among the 24 questioned this year whose majorities indicate they have a good impression of Russia and have confidence in Russian President Vladimir Putin, making them stand out in terms of overall favorability of Russia.
According to the survey, 65% of Indian respondents have a more favorable opinion of the US.
China as seen by Indians
According to Pew, opinions among Indians on China’s influence in the globe are somewhat more divided, with around four out of ten of them agreeing that it has been growing.
“In contrast, more Indians than any other countries surveyed believe that China’s influence is waning. This figure is roughly three out of ten. Since the nation was last polled in 2019, negative perceptions of China have also risen to unprecedented highs in India. According to the survey, two-thirds of Indians have a negative attitude of China, making India the only middle-income nation where this is true.
