It all began when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, chose not to attend Shweta Bachchan’s 50th birthday party, which was attended by the entire family. However, it appears that the actress avoided wishing her nanad, Shweta, on her 50th birthday and instead uploaded a post with her mother and daughter, Aaradhya, a day later.

On March 18, 2024, Aishwarya made her traditional post commemorating her father, Krishnaraj Rai, on his death anniversary. In one of the images, Aishwarya is seen posing with her daughter, Aaradhya, and her mother, Brinda Rai, holding a portrait of her late father. Aaradhya looked stunning with a chikankari white kurta and center-parted hair. In contrast, Aishwarya kept her outfit understated in a white suit. She kept her cosmetics simple, with pin-straight hair and a bindi.
Aishwarya also posted an unseen childhood photo of her daughter, Aaradhya, kissing her nanu. Aishwarya also wrote this, “Love you eternally, dearest darling Daddy-Ajjaaa. Thank you for all your Blessings.”

Shweta Bachchan celebrated her 50th birthday on March 17, 2024, at her home, Pratiksha, which Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan presented her previous year. Karan Johar arrived in style for the bash, as did Siddhant Chaturvedi, Navya Nanda Naveli’s beau. Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda’s reported lover, also attended the party. However, the absence of Abhishek Bachchan, his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan from the celebration generated further questions about the Bachchans’ family dynamics.

While Abhishek did not attend Shweta’s birthday party, he left a note for her on Instagram. He created a photo montage of his favorite moments with his didi, Shweta. He wrote a passionate note for her when she became fifty years old. The film showed the two brothers’ lovely childhood moments with their parents, Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. Along with that, Abhishek wrote a note to express how much ‘Shweta di’ meant to him.
