Sofyan Amrabat, a Moroccan midfielder, has joined Manchester United on a season-long loan from Fiorentina, while Sergio Reguilon, a Spanish left back, has joined from Tottenham Hotspur.
Although the 27-year-old Amrabat’s transfer was not made public, British media reported that United will pay 8.6 million pounds ($10.83 million) and have the option to purchase.
“Joining Manchester United is a tremendous honour. I had to wait for this time, but I always follow my heart, and I’m now a representative of the team of my aspirations,” he remarked.
Amrabat, who has 49 caps, participated fully in Morocco’s World Cup run in Qatar last year, playing every minute.
Luke Shaw of England, who had a muscle injury last month and will be out for several weeks, will be replaced by the 26-year-old Reguilon. Tyrell Malacia, the backup, is also sidelined because of an injury from last year.
Reguilon joined Spurs in 2020 after spending a season on loan at Sevilla, where he won the Europa League, having graduated from the Real Madrid academy.
Reguilon stated, “After speaking with the manager (Eric ten Hag), I am aware of what he needs from me and am prepared to contribute to the team’s success.”
I am prepared to compete for this team and demonstrate my abilities this season because I know I can help Manchester United.
Reguilon played with Spurs for more than 60 times in each of his first two English seasons, but he spent the 2022–23 season on loan at Atletico Madrid.
With six points from three Premier League games, United is in eighth position and will go to fifth-place Arsenal on Sunday. Arsenal is one point ahead of United in the standings.
