Twinkle Khanna recently spoke with ace fashion designer Masaba Gupta on her YouTube channel, Tweak India, regarding her mother, Dimple Kapadia’s reaction to her decision to marry Akshay Kumar. The adoring daughter claimed that her mother strongly recommended her to live with Akshay for two years before marrying. The actress revealed that her mum wanted her and Akshay to be very certain about their marriage decision. She recalled her mother’s advice and stated, When my husband said he wants to marry me, my mother said, ‘Nothing doing, you live together for two years. If you make it, then you get married.
In the same chat, Twinkle Khanna revealed to Masaba Gupta that her mother, Dimple Kapadia’s, counsel on live-ins was a clear reference to her mother’s volatile marriage with her father, Rajesh Khanna. The author also discussed the possibility of growing up in a household with both a father and a mother. Twinkle expressed her thoughts on the matter as follows, She (Dimple Kapadia) said, ‘I have been married. I’ve seen what it’s like. I feel that maybe if my parents were together, would I really want to constantly keep working, doing something? I probably wouldn’t.
Twinkle Khanna also praised her mother, Dimple Kapadia, for raising her on her own and juggling her personal and professional lives. The author praised her mother for all of her efforts and sacrifices in raising her. Twinkle also confessed that she was unaware of the patriarchal system for the majority of her childhood because she was reared alone by her mother, who removed her from it. She elaborated that, I was raised largely by my mother. I would tell you that for the longest time I didn’t know that patriarchy and the patriarchal system existed because I wasn’t in the system.

Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of legendary actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, grew up loving movies and even tried her hand at acting. However, after marrying Khiladi Kumar, Akshay Kumar, she retired from acting and entered the field of literature. The lovely pair has a son named Aarav Kumar, born in 2002, and a daughter named Nitara, born in 2012.
