Liverpool advanced to the Europa League Round of 16 with a 4-0 win over LASK thanks to goals from Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool qualified for the Europa League round of 16 with a game to spare when Luis Daz and Cody Gakpo scored early in a 4-0 win over Austria’s LASK. In the 12th minute, Daz headed in a cross from Joe Gomez, and three minutes later, Gakpo knocked in Mohamed Salah’s ball at Anfield. Salah scored his 199th goal for the Reds early in the second half to make it 3-0. Gakpo scored his second goal during stoppage time.
With 12 points, Liverpool leads Group E by four points. Toulouse sits second in the table with eight points after a 0-0 draw with Union Saint-Gilloise.

After five games, Leverkusen remained the only team with a perfect record. Victor Boniface and substitute Patrik Schick both scored once as Hacken won 2-0 in Group H and advanced to the round of 16. Tomá Soucek scored late again to enable West Ham move to the knockout stage with a 1-0 victory over TSC Backa Topola. In the 89th minute, the midfielder met Maxwel Cornet’s cross at the far post to volley home the winner in Serbia.
Soucek, who has scored in five consecutive games, scored a stoppage-time winner for West Ham against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday. West Ham is tied for first place in Group A with Freiburg of Germany, which defeated Olympiacos 5-0. By the 36th minute, Michael Gregoritsch had a hat trick. Kiliann Sildillia and Ritsu Doan are also credentialed. Both winners have 12 points.
The Hammers only need a point against Freiburg in London on December 14 to top the group and avoid a two-leg playoff in February. Brighton moved from Group B after a 1-0 win over 10-man AEK in Athens thanks to a penalty conversion by Joo Pedro. Pedro was fouled in the box before beating goalie Cican Stankovic with his fifth goal of the season. Mijat Gacinovic, the hosts’ midfielder, was shown a second yellow card in the 65th minute.
In a 4-3 triumph over 10-man Ajax, Marseille forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a hat trick and two penalties, one in stoppage time, to lead Group B with 11 points. Brighton is one step behind. AEK is still in third place with four points. The eight group winners in Europe’s second-tier tournament advance directly to the competition’s final 16, whereas placing second earns a team a playoff against the clubs who drop into the Europa League as third-place finishers in Champions League groups.
Despite a 1-1 tie at home with Sporting Lisbon, Atalanta moved directly to the round of 16. Sporting replacement Marcus equalized Gianluca Scamacca’s opener. With 11 points, Atalanta won Group D. Sporting comes in second with eight points. Slavia Prague moved to the top of Group G after a 3-2 win over Sheriff in Tiraspol, thanks to Roma’s 1-1 draw with Servette in Geneva. With one game remaining, Roma is two points behind the Czechs.
In Group C, Sparta Prague defeated Real Betis 1-0 with a second-half curling shot from the outskirts of the area, keeping the Czech team’s hopes of finishing in the top two alive. Maccabi Haifa fell to Rennes 3-0 in a game played in the Puskas Arena in Budapest because Israel is not permitted to host UEFA-sanctioned matches due to the conflict with Hamas.
Also in the group, 41-year-old goalkeeper Pepe Reina helped Villarreal beat Panathinaikos 3-2 to move into second place all-time in European tournament appearances with 189. Only Cristiano Ronaldo has played more games, with 197.
CONFERENCE LEAGUE OF EUROPE PAOK of Greece joined Viktoria Plzen in the round of 16 after winning Group G with a 2-1 away win at Eintracht Frankfurt. The Czechs triumphed 1-0 at Ballkani, giving them five wins in a row in Group C. Aston Villa went to the top of Group E after defeating Legia Warsaw 2-1. At Villa Park, Moussa Diaby and Lex Moreno each scored, with Ernest Muçi netting for the visitors. Villa needed to win by two or more goals to take first place in the group.
Club Brugge defeated Besiktas 5-0 in Turkey to take the lead in Group D with 13 points. Bodo/Glimt leads by three points after a 5-2 victory against Lugano. A first-place finish secures a direct spot in the last 16, while a second-place performance places clubs in a Europa League playoff with third-place finishers.
