Gaza Hospital Bombing:- Josep Borrell, the chief diplomat for the EU, demanded that responsibility for the crime and those responsible for the violence be determined.
European politicians responded to the hundreds of people that died on Tuesday night at the Al-Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza. The militant organization Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, has attributed the devastation to an Israeli air attack, while Israel has stated that a misfired missile by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad was to blame.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom stated during a Wednesday Commons speech that the hospital’s images had startled the whole House.
Any loss of innocent life is a terrible tragedy, according to Mr. Sunak. Mr. Sunak stated that British intelligence was independently analyzing the information around the explosion but that he was not in a position to further at this time. According to Mr. Sunak, the U.K. was coordinating with its partners to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Politicians in Europe were cautious when laying blame for the explosion on Tuesday.
U.K. Foreign Secretary James Cleverly posted on X, “Last night, too many jumped to conclusions around the tragic loss of life at Al Ahli hospital.”
He urged everyone to maintain their composure and wait for the facts, warning that getting this wrong would endanger many more lives. He had previously stated on Tuesday evening that protecting civilian lives must come first and that the U.K. and its partners will “find out” what had transpired.
On Wednesday morning, Mr. Cleverly tweeted immediately after it was reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been informed by US President Joe Biden that Israel was not to blame for the attack.
During a trip to Tel Aviv on Wednesday, Mr. Biden remarked, “From what I’ve seen, it appears as though it was done by the other team, not you.”
