We take a look at the top five Pakistan players to keep an eye on in the World Cup encounter in ind vs pak ahead of the blockbuster game at Narendra Modi Stadium.
It’s that time of the season when all eyes are on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the most anticipated encounter of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Both India and Pakistan will enter the competition after an outstanding start to the event, but in very different styles.
India defeated five-time winners Australia in Chennai before decimating Afghanistan in Delhi to finish third in the points tally. Both victories were convincing, with neither the bowling nor batting lineups appearing to suffer thus far, though India is concerned about Shubman Gill’s recovery from dengue fever in time for the major match at his favorite stadium.Meanwhile, Pakistan, who played both of their matches in Hyderabad, survived a scare against the Netherlands before writing a thriller in a run chase against Sri Lanka to finish fourth on the table. On Saturday, though, all previous records, triumphs, and figures will be meaningless; what will undoubtedly important is the exhilaration it offers. And it will not be just the thousands in attendance who will see it occur in front of their eyes, but billions around the world who will watch it on television or digital screens.
Players to watch in world cup ind vs pak match
Shaheen Afridi:
Shaheen, a left-arm pacer with the ability to get that late movement in towards a right-hander, has the perfect ingredient to disturb the Indian top-order, as he demonstrated a little over a month ago when he dismissed Rohit Sharma for 11 and Virat Kohli for 4. And it wasn’t the first time he had endangered India’s top order, with the sole other occasion being the 2021 T20 World Cup. Saheen, on the other hand, has had a quiet start to the competition, with only two wickets for 103 runs in 96 balls, but he has promised to notch up a five-wicket haul against India.

Babar Azam:
The skipper, like Shaheen, has yet to demonstrate his class in the competition. His knocks of 80 and 90 in warm-up matches looked good enough, with veterans and experts urging opponents to be wary of Babar at the World Cup, but the star batter has only scored 15 runs in two matches so far. He also has a poor record versus India in this format, with 168 runs in six innings, including two single-digit knocks. With the match expected to set the tone for Pakistan’s remaining World Cup games, Babar will be eager to take on the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
Mohammad Rizwan:
Unlike his T20 prowess, Rizwan’s ODI abilities have received less attention. But, with two spectacular efforts – 68 against the Netherlands and 131* against Sri Lanka – the wicketkeeper-batter has established his white-ball skills once more and enters the India match in fine form.
Haris Rauf:
With five wickets for 107 runs so far in the competition, Rauf will be trying to replicate his Pallekele performance last month, when he concluded with 3 for 58 against India. He’d also like to settle the score with Kohli, who whacked him for two legendary sixes in last year’s T20 World Cup.
Abdullah Shafique:
In the midst of Pakistan’s early troubles, Shafique used his golden opportunity against Sri Lanka to secure his status at least till the end of the league stage with a spectacular century en route to his knock of 113. Pakistan would undoubtedly want the opener to replicate his performance in Ahmedabad on Saturday and give the ideal foundation for Babar and Rizwan.
