National Education Day 2023 : Every year on November 11, India celebrates National Education Day in honor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the country’s first education minister after independence. From August 15, 1947, to February 2, 1958, he was the minister of education. He died in Delhi on February 22, 1958. On November 18, 1888, Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiyuddin Ahmed bin Khairuddin Al-Hussaini Azad was born. He was an Indian National Congress senior leader, a scholar, an educationist, and a freedom fighter.
Maulana Azad, as he was also known, was a major architect of India’s independence. He was in charge of founding the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), two of the leading educational organizations. IIT Kharagpur, the first Indian Institute of Technology, was also founded by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
