NFL power rankings Week 11: NFL power rankings as of Week 11 of the 2023 season (previous position in parentheses):
1. Eagles (2)
I hope you’re all rested, especially you, Jalen Hurts (knee). Philadelphia begins a five-game slog against some of the league’s best teams Monday night at Kansas City in a rematch of Super Bowl 57. With TE Dallas Goedert out with a broken forearm, the fifth-ranked offense is missing a key component. There appears to be a lot of negativity here, but this is a squad that has started the season 8-1 in consecutive seasons and is well-equipped to persist now that the inevitable regular-season test has arrived.

2. Chiefs (3)
Unlike Philly, five of the reigning champs’ next six games are against teams with losing records, although they won’t have the Taylor Swift advantage because she’s on tour in South America. Still, it’s worth watching to see if an eighth-ranked offense improves. And you can’t blame QB Patrick Mahomes for not trying every option after setting a new Super Bowl record (since 1966) by completing passes to at least 10 different players in six games this season.

3. 49ers (4)
I told you they’d be OK with All-Pro LT Trent Williams and WR Deebo Samuel back in the lineup. And let’s not forget about Pro Bowler George Kittle, who has now surpassed 500 receiving yards in all seven of his professional seasons, becoming only the fourth tight end in NFL history to do so.

4. Browns (13)
You have to wonder what Cleveland could be if it were mostly healthy, with QB Deshaun Watson’s ankle injury being the most recent concern. But let us recognize the Dawgs for what they are: a strong team on both sides of the ball that can win in a location like Baltimore even when the league’s top defense is down.

5. Ravens (1)
We reluctantly named them the NFL’s best team a week ago and got burned for it after overlooking Baltimore’s (probably) fatal flaw: a long-standing and uncanny inability to close out games in the fourth quarter, which they failed to do in all three of their losses, including Sunday’s loss to the Browns. If not corrected, this will very certainly cost the Ravens a chance at Super Bowl 58 and possibly another MVP award for QB Lamar Jackson.
6. Lions (7)
It was amusing to see Dan Campbell beat the Bolts’ Brandon Staley at the analytics game with his audacious but effective choice to go for it on fourth-and-2 with 1:47 left Sunday before Detroit’s game-winning field goal. “He’s got big guts, and he showed it there,” said quarterback Jared Goff of his coach. (However, does Staley ever win the analytics war in retrospect?)

7. Cowboys (8)
When was the last time Dallas had two receivers with 150 yards or more in a game? Consider 1985, starring Doug Cosbie and Tony Hill. When was the last time CeeDee Lamb didn’t have 150 yards or more in a game? Try October 16 (when he only had 117).

8. Dolphins (10)
Miami’s next five games are against clubs with a winning percentage of less than.500, a wonderful opportunity for the Fins to seize control of the eminently winnable AFC East.

9. Texans (15)
Wow, just wow. QB C.J. Stroud has all but clinched the Offensive Rookie of the Year award—possibly the first rookie ever to throw for 5,000 yards in a season—and is gaining steam as a potential first-year league MVP in the Super Bowl era. It shouldn’t harm his case to play in Houston for the next three weeks and possibly get some support from the ground game after RB Devin Singletary burst for a career-high 150 rushing yards on Sunday.

10. Bengals (6)
It’s a tough way to end a four-game winning streak, especially if a healthy Tee Higgins catches Tyler Boyd’s likely game-winning touchdown pass in the end zone. However, Cincinnati must quickly recover for its trip to Baltimore on Thursday night, a game in which Higgins and DE Trey Hendrickson may be forced to miss.
