Dubai has developed into one of the world’s most technologically and architecturally sophisticated cities over the past few decades. People who reside in Dubai have a preference for life’s more opulent pleasures.
Robert De Niro, the Kardashians, and essentially every Instagram influencer in the world travel to Dubai as celebrities. The city, which has a $108 billion GDP, is home to tourist destinations including hotels, aquariums, skyscrapers, and man-made islands. All of the emirate’s native plants and animals contrast wonderfully with the ultramodern buildings.
Dubai residents have access to everything from golden treats to exotic animals. There aren’t many things that Emiratis cannot afford if they have enough money. The following are only a few of Dubai’s many undiscovered joys in life.
1. Water Cars in DUBAI
Est. Value: $135,000*
Produced by: WaterCar
WaterCar is well-liked in Dubai despite being an American company with its headquarters in Southern California. The area of competence for WaterCar is high-end amphibious vehicles. After being heavily motivated by the Amphicar, another luxury amphibious car from the 1960s, Dave March started the company in 1999.
When WaterCar introduced the Panther in 2013, it served as the first commercial water car. Even though Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheik Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al-Maktoum, does personally possess six of these amphibious water vehicles, the more contemporary model has gained popularity in Dubai due to its very affordable price tag of little over $135,000.
A hydraulic off-road suspension retracts the wheels as the vehicle enters the water at a speed just under 10 mph. The conversion from a land vehicle to a seagoing one, and vice versa, may be finished in less than fifteen seconds. These “Bond-like” cars can travel over 60 mph in the water once the change is finished.
2. Undersea Hotels
Est. Value: $6,295 per night*
Produced by: Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai
Dubai, which is more well-known for its tall structures and man-made islands, also offers a number of hotels that let visitors stay in underwater rooms. The suite, which is often found in the Ambassador Lagoon, charges a premium fee for its wonderful views of the ocean. The Atlantis, The Palm hotel is home to the most well-known underwater suite.
“Neptune” and “Poseidon” are two fittingly named underwater suites that can be found at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai. They include floor-to-ceiling windows that let you get a close-up view of the 65 000 marine animals that live in the lagoon.
However, be ready to fork up some dough if you want to stay in an underwater hotel. An underwater hotel in Dubai costs, at the very least, $314 a night, which is more expensive than even some of the best hotels in the United States. Some of the most opulent underwater hotels have one-night stays that may cost up to $25,000.

3. Robotic Camel Racers
Est. Value: $500/Robot Jockey*
Produced by: Various Local Shops
Prior to 2004, there were several human rights concerns surrounding camel racing in the UAE, notably the employment of young children as jockeys in the aforementioned contests. The Emirates’ response was to stop using any human jockeys in 2004 and switch to using robot jockeys instead.
The robots, which have an aluminum chassis, are equipped with sensors that can provide information to the racing crew, who are watching from a safe distance, about the camels’ heart rate and running pace. Operators of the robots operate the remote controls while being driven beside the track in separate cars.
The introduction of robot jockeys has reduced the number of injuries and human rights abuses in camel racing throughout the UAE. Not to add, they have a nice appearance. As time has passed, the robotic camels have undergone several modifications. Despite the fact that construction started in 2001, the first race didn’t appear until four years later. To withstand the harsh desert landscape and sweltering climate, the robots needed to be upgraded.
4. Helicopter Taxis For Cars
The aggravation experienced by vehicles who are snarled in bumper-to-bumper traffic is one thing that unites motorists from all over the world. Few things grate on a driver’s gears more than spending hours gazing at the rear bumper of the car in front of them. They have discovered a solution to every traffic issue in Dubai.
It is common to see helicopter taxis hovering above Dubai, moving the affluent and famous’s cars from one place to another. Residents of the Burj Khalifa frequently witness these heli-car taxis zipping around the metropolis.
Thanks to a German firm that agreed to be the first aerial taxi service in the world, the project got underway in 2017. Volocopter provided the 18-rotor AATs (autonomous air taxis). A taxi journey for a party of six individuals costs around $144 per person, so it is not inexpensive.
5. Hydroflying Boots
Est. Value: $5,000*
Produced by: Flyboard
When it comes to methods to fill their leisure time, Dubai offers an almost infinite number of options for adrenaline addicts and water sport aficionados. If pet tigers and sky-high tennis courts aren’t enough to satisfy one’s thirst for adventure, the Persian Gulf is the perfect place to locate their next thrilling weekend activity: hydro-flying boots.
The latest trend among individuals with an extra few thousand dollars to spend on a new toy is flyboarding. They enable the user to appear to fly over the water by using a long hose that connects to the apparatus and directs water pressure through jet nozzles that are mounted under the boots.
The boots have the power to launch its wearer more than 70 feet into the air or push them at speeds of up to 25 mph down an underwater path. Is it secure? Most likely not, but it is a lot of fun.
6. Lamborghini Police Cars
Est. Value: $545,000*
Produced by: Lamborghini
In Dubai, there are a lot of high-end cars, so it seems more necessary than enjoyable that the police officers may also be seen riding around in style. In Dubai, it’s not uncommon to see police officers patrolling the streets in Lamborghinis, Bugattis, and Ferraris.
The Lamborghini Aventador is unlike any other police car. With a peak speed of 220 mph and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3 seconds, it is understandable why there aren’t many efforts by drivers in Dubai to elude the police.
Being stopped by an Aventador, which is a far cry from a Crown Vic, would undoubtedly be an interesting experience. You don’t want to take a chance, though, as speeding fines in Dubai are rather high. One source claims that fines range from $273 for little infractions to over $800 for significant violations.
7. Artificial Man-Made “The World” Islands
Est. Value: $16 Billion-$20 Billion*
Produced by: Creative Kingdom Dubai
With each new building, Dubai’s real estate developers have been coming up with innovative and inventive methods to surpass themselves. Dubai is constructing entire new planets while some nations are constructing airport islands off their borders.
The construction that went into building the Palm Jumeirah appears to have been only a test run for the enormous project that is “The World” Islands, an operation that is still ongoing.
The islands are designed to resemble a map of the world when viewed from above. When “The World” is finished, it will cover an area of around 3.7 by 5.6 miles and be made up of seven groups of islands that together comprise almost 260 islands. Each group of islands will stand in for one of the seven continents, and each island will be between 150 000 and 450 000 square feet in size.
8. Indoor Skiing in the Mall
Est. Value: $75/day pass*
Produced by: Majid Al Futtaim Group
The Majid Al Futtaim Group created Ski Dubai, which debuted its lifts to the public in 2005. Ski Dubai, an indoor mountain that can be found inside the Mall of the Emirates, features three lifts that take skiers to the beginning of one of its five lines, which are located about 25 floors high.
The complexity of each course varies. The first indoor black diamond course in the world is the most advanced of the courses. For those who are not familiar with skiing, a black diamond route is always the most difficult and complicated one on the “mountain.”
Ski Dubai also features a more than 30,000 square foot snow park with an ice cave, toboggan courses, an ice slide, a space designated for snowball fights, and an exhibit featuring penguins for those seeking an alternative to skiing or snowboarding. This ski resort maintains a pretty constant seasonal inside temperature that ranges between 30-35 degrees Fahrenheit in order to offer the best winter conditions all year round.
9. Penguin Petting Zoo
Est. Value: $40-$140/ticket*
Produced by: Majid Al Futtaim Group
The Mall of the Emirates surpassed all other malls in size once it was finished in 2005. Visitors believed they had seen everything the mall had to offer five years later, when a ski resort started functioning alongside the mall. However, a few years later, The Penguin Experience opened within Ski Dubai, providing guests the chance to learn about and interact with both King and Gentoo penguins.
There are several penguin experiences available, with prices ranging from $40 to $140. The most costly tickets, of course, provide penguin fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with and pet a penguin.
Fans of these elegant birds may still stroll through an ice cave and get up close to the penguins with a ticket at the lower end of the pricing range. These adorable, cuddly creatures don’t appear to be very terrified of people, likely as a result of the absence of terrestrial predators in their native Antarctica.
10. Elite Ambulances
Est. Value: $150,000-$200,000*
Produced by: Allstate Limo
It may be incredibly distressing to ride in an ambulance to the hospital. They employ a fleet of converted limos that have been outfitted with everything one may need to meet their emergency or comfort needs. This is a novel method that has been developed in Dubai to assist patients feel less stressed.
Anyone in Dubai who has a regular medical coverage qualifies for a ride in one of the limousines. Any expenses incurred as a result of the necessity to ride in one of these opulent ambulances are covered by all basic insurance policies. One benefit of using one of these ambulance limos is that there is always space for the one other passenger who wishes to accompany you to the hospital.
These limo ambulances aren’t meant for people who are in “dire need” of help, though. They are not intended for use by normal pedestrians, GSWs, or any other dangerous situations.
11. Mustang Motorcycles
Est. Value: $5,000-$10,000*
Produced by: Custom Made
In Dubai, seeing a luxury car is no longer unusual. When it comes to personal mobility, Emiratis don’t hold back, driving everything from Lamborghinis to double-wide Jeeps. Usually, if something isn’t pricey and shiny, it won’t work.
A mustang motorbike in Dubai differs differently from the vintage vehicle that one may see driving around American highways. An Arabian horse-themed bespoke bike was created in Dubai for a horse aficionado. These Emirati “Mustang-Motorcycles” have attracted so much notice that others have copied them. They are now the topic of conversation.
The Avatar Mustang, which made its premiere at the Royal Show, was another recent Mustang to garner notice. Based on the James Cameron film, the Avatar Mustang is essentially an S550 Ford Mustang that has been alienized. Whether these extraterrestrial Mustangs will take over Dubai the way Mustang Motorcycles have is yet to be seen.
12. Falcon Flights
Est. Value: $40,000-$100,000*
Produced by: N/A
Possessing a falcon is one of the ultimate prestige symbols in Dubai. The falcon is treated with more respect and better care than people in most other nations since it is the national bird of the United Arab Emirates.
When the necessity for plane travel may arise, pet owners frequently worry about their animals. Anyone would be worried if their cat or dog was confined in a different area of a plane for the duration of the voyage. Falcons are so highly esteemed in the UAE that when they fly with their owners, they are given their own seats and are permitted to remain uncaged in the passenger cabins.
And there is no doubting the wonderful nature of falcons. They can fly up to 200 miles per hour and change direction in an instant thanks to their small, tapering wings. These amazing creatures possess cognitive abilities and are very intelligent.
13. Diamond-Encrusted Mercedes
Est. Value: $4.8 Million*
Produced by: Mercedes
Spending money on extravagant products that the majority of people could only dream of owning has become a form of art for the inhabitants of Dubai. The cars in Dubai will undoubtedly get some attention, but the diamond-encrusted Mercedes will do it more frequently.
On the Mercedes driven by Saudi Prince (Amir) al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul-Aziz, there were more than 300,000 diamond decals. Being one of the top ten richest persons in the world, he considered the $4.8 million asking price to be almost free money.
Some stories claim that it cost $1,000 only to touch this pricey vehicle. The SL500 was created to commemorate the SL500’s 50th birthday in 2007. The car, which is owned by a millionaire, made its premiere at the Dubai Auto Show, which is known for showcasing some of the world’s most extravagant automobiles.
14. ATMs for Gold Bars
Est. Value: 56/gram of 24K gold*
Produced by: TG Gold-Super-Markt
Should the need for some extra spending money or perhaps a gold bar arise while visiting the UAE, one should not fret, as there are ATMs available for just the occasion. The Gold To Go gold bar ATM was first seen in the Emirates in 2010.
Stocked with three hundred and twenty different items made of gold, the machine sells a variety of custom coins, as well as, a variety of weighted, 24-carat gold bars (worth around $1.46 million) that are sealed in plastic upon being dispensed.
For those who are worried about up-to-date prices or someone breaking into one of the machines, these concerns are justified but rather unnecessary. The prices are updated through an encrypted internet connection every minute and in order to prevent theft, the Gold To Go has been fitted with cameras that record every transaction, is built like an armored vehicle, and was tested with explosives.
15. Actual Batmobile
Est. Value: $~1 Million*
Produced by: Ideal Classic Cars
Anyone who has ever wished to live as though they were walking out of the Western World’s reality and into an adult playground would love Dubai. The cities are enormous, the accessories are gaudy, and the automobiles are in a class by themselves.
The opulent, extravagant automobiles that seem to be remnants from such video games may occasionally make walking the streets of Dubai remind a tourist of the streets in the Gran Turismo or Grand Theft Auto video games. One illustration shows a real, stylish Batmobile (although we doubt Bruce Wayne is driving).
A tourist could mistakenly believe they had spotted the Dark Knight himself out and about on a city night, but they would be incorrect. A local would have been operating one of the few Bat-mobiles that have been purchased in the UAE. These knightly chariots, capable of reaching speeds of more than 150 mph, are no laughing matter.
