Pooja Bhatt recently discussed her controversial magazine cover from the 1990s, which was inspired by Demi Moore, and disclosed how it was filmed spontaneously.
Pooja Bhatt, like her father, Mahesh Bhatt, has always led a tumultuous existence. The actress never followed cultural standards or made traditional life choices. Pooja occasionally defied several prevailing prejudices, raising many heads. Aside from her daring and feisty film choices, she was well-known for her seductive beauty at the time. Pooja has been the victim of insults and criticism since she was a child, but nothing has ever deterred her love of the glamour world.
When Pooja Bhatt stripped naked for a magazine cover
Pooja Bhatt was regarded as one of Bollywood’s most sought-after actors in the 1990s. Pooja appeared naked for a magazine photo and painted her body in paint during a time when daring clothes were frowned upon. The photo shoot was inspired by a similar Vanity Fair cover with Demi Moore for the uninitiated. Pooja, on the other hand, earned a lot of flack for her bold decision back then and was viciously ridiculed.
Pooja Bhatt discusses her contentious magazine photoshoot
Pooja Bhatt recounted her meeting with Anna Singh, who painted her body for the session, and photographer Dinesh Raheja at Jagdish Mali’s studio in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. Speaking about the photo session, the actress claimed that it was inspired by Demi Moore and was done organically. She stated, I saw the original photo of Demi Moore and I found it to be very aesthetic. I never thought I was doing anything controversial. It’s about neeyat. I thought it was aesthetic, and I just did it like that. It was not pre-planned that, ‘Oh this will go viral’. These words didn’t exist in those times. We did things organically. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Sometimes it used to get controversial, so we had to keep our head low, and sometimes people really liked it.
Pooja stated that while comparing herself to today’s youth, the former are scarcely organic in their approach. The actress noted that if one is concerned about the number of views on a post, things will not go well. She stated, That organic nature has been watered down in today’s times. Some of today’s youngsters are too cautious. When you start playing to the gallery constantly and start thinking, ‘If I will post this picture, these many views will come’, then it doesn’t work.
Pooja Bhatt admits to having a boyfriend when she was only 19 years old
Pooja Bhatt also discussed her problematic image in the media at the time, saying that since her parents didn’t disapprove of her conduct, she didn’t feel the need to hide anything. Pooja revealed that she had a relationship when she was only 19 years old, saying, I had a simple funda in life that if my parents know who I am, and what I am doing, and they give me the seal of approval… Like, I had a boyfriend at 19 when I was doing Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin and they knew about it, so why should I hide it from the media?
Pooja Bhatt talked up about making her acting debut at the age of 17 and moving behind the camera at the age of 25
Pooja Bhatt recently revealed to Siddharth Kanan that she was 17 years old when she made her first film, Daddy. “Sadak was like a hat-trick after Daddy, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin.” At 19 I was a superstar, by 24 the industry declared, ‘Yeh toh khatam ho chuki hai (she is done). So I replied, ‘This is the only industry in the world where, at 24, when most people are just starting off, you’ve achieved the pinnacle of stardom, and they’ve already dragged you down to the pits and told you you’re done,'” Bhatt explained.
Pooja also discussed why, at the age of 25, she quit performing and moved behind the camera. “At the age of 25, I started my production (house), made Tammanna,” she explained. I received my first National Award, I felt a sense of accomplishment, and I regained my self-esteem as a result of shooting a film like that. I toured across the country and met people, and because that film earned funds for charity, I received my National Award. Then I did Dushman with Kajol, and then Zakhm, and the rest is history.”
