Quaker Oats has expanded its December recall of more than 40 products that may be contaminated with salmonella
Two dozen more varieties of granola bars, cereals, and snack items have been added to the December recall of Quaker Oats products due to potential salmonella contamination. The additional recall in the United States and Canada was announced by the PepsiCo-owned firm on Thursday. The products included in the expanded recall include snack boxes containing Quaker Chewy Granola Bars and Cereals, Cap’n Crunch Bars and certain cereals, Gamesa Marias Cereal, Gatorade Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Bars, and Munchies Munch Mix.
According to a spokeswoman for the FDA on Friday, the agency has received at least 24 reports of adverse events connected to the goods that were first recalled. However, no illnesses have been linked to the foods. According to the official, adverse events can include non-medical concerns such as product color or flavor complaints, faulty packing, and medical difficulties. The FDA will keep looking into the reports. Infections with Salmonella can result in fever, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain. Bacterial infections can be deadly in some rare circumstances.
