Shakira, a single mother of two, further stated in the same interview that she looks to her parents for marital advice. She claims that she wished for herself to have a connection like her parents did, but alas, that was not to be. She said, My parents have been together, I don’t know, 50 years, and they love each other like the first day, with a love that’s unique and unrepeatable. So I know it’s possible. Shakira put her family first before her career, but she is now recommitting to it
The singer of Beautiful Liar thought back on her previous union with Pique. She acknowledged that she had to put her personal life ahead of her singing career while residing in Spain with the former football player. She added further, The thing is, I was dedicated to him. To the family, to him. It was very difficult for me to attend to my professional career while in Barcelona. I couldn’t leave my children and just go somewhere to make music outside my house. It was hard to maintain the rhythm.
Shakira found a fresh focus on her music and a reprieve from the incessant media attention her family in Barcelona had to endure after relocating to Miami. She described the contrast between their previous experiences in the U.S., where they have benefited from a welcome feeling of normalcy and a vacation from the spotlight, and their lives in Spain, where the paparazzi were constantly around. Shakira is appreciative of this fresh phase in her life. She said, Here, they’re normal children who enjoy normalcy, which is what school should be: a safe haven where they can be themselves,” Shakira expressed, underscoring the importance of a balanced and grounded environment for her children.
