Sonakshi Sinha recently spoke with India Today on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s style of filmmaking while he worked on his dream movie, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The diva denied pre-existing allegations of SLB being belligerent on set, tossing objects and phones all over the place in a fit of rage. Sonakshi, on the other hand, stated that Sanjay was a very nurturing personality. However, he was a tough taskmaster at times, which enables smooth operation on such a large-scale project as this. In her words, “Absolute rumours! But yes, he is a taskmaster, I won’t deny that. But, he deserves every bit of it because see the kind of work and magic that he creates, right? And if somebody does mess with his vision, I think it’s his right to make sure the work gets done.”

Moving further in the conversation, Sonakshi discussed her experience working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which is a dream come true for many actors over their careers. The diva noted that the filmmaker has a great eye for talent and recognises it anyway. She further stated, “I really enjoyed working with him, and he’s someone who really appreciates talent, so he was very happy with me. I also did hear these rumours before I went to work with him, but I was very, very happy to work with him on set. He can be really nurturing when he sees that an actor is delivering exactly what his vision is, so, I’m blessed that I got to see that side of his.”

For those who are unfamiliar, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar boasts a star-studded cast, the majority of whom are some of the most successful actresses. Divas including Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Sehgal were cast as courtesans in the series. In an earlier interview with a top daily, Sonakshi was questioned if there was any female rivalry among the series’ actors. Sonakshi answered with sassiness, “You know, women don’t do that, right? And whoever probably started this rumour is a very disgruntled man. ‘Heeramandi’ was an amazing experience for all of us. I mean, it has been one of the best working experiences of my life. I mean, try and get a six-hero film together, and I challenge you!”
