One of the most well-known and adored playback singers in Indian movies is Sonu Nigam. Sonu Nigam, a Padma Shri laureate, first became interested in music when he was approximately four years old and joined his father, Agam Kumar Nigam, on stage to perform one of Mohammed Rafi’s well-known songs. After making his playback debut in 1992 with Talash, a television drama on DD1, he went on to compose some of the most beautiful songs for various performances, solo music albums, and other worldwide stage productions. Sonu has helped to produce some of the most well-known songs during the course of his illustrious career, including Panchhi Nadiyan from Refugee, Yeh Dil Deewana from Pardes, Suraj Hua Maddham and You Are My Sonia from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and many more.

Sonu Nigam remembers Anu Malik harassing him in the beginning of his career
Sonu Nigam recently discussed his friendship and working relationship with well-known music composer Anu Malik with whom he has co-written some of the most well-known songs during an interview with Bollywood Hungama. Speaking of their friendship, Sonu recounted how Anu Malik severely tormented him in the beginning of his career because he was the more experienced and elder musician in the field. Sonu described how he was initially frightened before learning how to handle him, ‘First I used to get scared of him. When I was new in the industry, he used to bully me, in the sense that he was older than me, and had a lot of experience. I met him when I was 14 years old, at a competition which I won. That time he had said, get him to me when he grows up. When I came to Mumbai, my dad and I went to see him. He was very intimidating at that time. But slowly, I understood how to deal with him. Jitna daboge, utna dabaenge. I even learnt a lot from him, he is my guruji.
When Sonu revealed that he doesn’t want his son to become a singer in India
In addition to his successful job, Sonu Nigam is a very modest and family-oriented person in his personal life. For those who don’t know, the great singer is wed to Madhurima Nigam, and the two are parents to Neevan. Neevan shares a passion for music with his dearest Daddy. But his father is the one who opposes his son’s career as a singer in India. In a previous interview with The Times Of India, Sonu revealed more about it and mentioned, Frankly, I don’t want him to be a singer, at least not in this country. He is a born singer, but he has another interest in life. He is a brilliant child with a lot of qualities and talent. And I don’t want to tell him what to do. Let’s see what he wants to do himself.

When Sonu stated if he was impacted by the bans he received from various music labels
Sonu Nigan opened up about the moment in his career when he was banned by numerous music labels after he made certain revelations and stood up for some political reasons in one of his earlier interviews with Bollywood Hungama. However, Sonu had previously expressed how he had perceived all those actions as a form of retaliation against him. He also noted how these experiences all improved him as a person.
When Sonu discussed his perspective on the shifting dynamics in the new-age music industry
Sonu Nigam was questioned about his opinion of the altered dynamics in the new age music industry in a prior interview with The Telegraph. The singer responded by saying that, in contrast to earlier decades, music composers today produce an excessive number of songs concurrently, providing the audience with a wide variety to choose from. On the other hand, it makes it more challenging for songwriters like him to determine their personal success percentage.
