On Friday, Sterlite Power said that it has bought Beawar Transmission Ltd in order to create a transmission project for power in Rajasthan. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. is Beawar Transmission.
According to a corporate statement, Sterlite Power received the SPV through tariff-based competitive bidding in August. “Sterlite Power announces the acquisition of Beawar Transmission Ltd from REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd,” the statement read.
The corporation withheld the acquisition’s financial information. According to the announcement, the company would build the Green Energy Corridor project through Beawar Transmission Ltd on a build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) basis for 35 years.
According to the company, this is SP’s 19th power transmission project in India that was obtained through tariff-based competitive bidding. It also stated that it currently has projects worth Rs 12,000 crore under control.

A 350 km (765 kV) transmission link connecting Fatehgarh III’s renewable energy zone to the substation at Beawar will be built first. Fatehgarh III Beawar Transmission Ltd., Part G Phase III of the project, was awarded to SP in March. The transmission line will rank among the nation’s major green energy corridors once all portions F and G are finished.
