Yoga helps in managing teen stress in adolescents and also helps improve metabolism and cognition in teenagers, says study
Yoga is praised as a joyful and peaceful method of managing stress. Yoga’s effectiveness in helping adolescents manage their teen stress is supported by a recent study that was published in Integrative Medicine Research. It not only reduces stress but also enhances adolescent metabolism and cognition.
Yoga expert Rajendra Yenkannamoole, founder of Vasudeva Kriya Yoga, Melbourne, recommends that children and adolescents should be encouraged to take up a regular yoga routine. This can effectively address issues they may commonly face, such as stress, sleep disruptions and restlessness. “I generally favour introducing kids to the practice of surya namaskara. Regular practice has been proven to reduce anxiety and stress in children,” he says.
