Mahesh Bhatt, a well-known director, has four children: Pooja Bhatt, Rahul Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, and Alia Bhatt. While Alia Bhatt and Shaheen are his daughters from his second marriage to Soni Razdan, Pooja and Rahul are his children from his first marriage to Kiran Bhatt. Despite being stepsisters, Pooja and Alia’s relationship is really amazing. Pooja and Alia, who are both close to their father Mahesh, have an age gap of 21 years for the uninitiated.

Mahesh Bhatt and his daughters Pooja and Alia Bhatt opened up about their relationship during an interview with journalist Karan Thapar. Pooja provided a lovely response when questioned whether her relationship with her father was significantly stronger than Alia’s. Pooja stated that she is superior to my siblings and continued, I think I had the privilege of knowing him in a manner that Alia, Shaheen, and Sunny never did. Because I knew him through a difficult phase—I saw him grapple with alcohol, I saw him give it up. And for me, that’s his greatest achievement. I think I have an edge over my siblings, not because I’ve worked with him, but I’ve seen him through the depths of despair, and I’ve seen him rise.
Alia Bhatt acknowledged harboring intense enmity for Pooja Bhatt
In a later question in the interview, the journalist inquired about Pooja’s father, Mahesh Bhatt, and the famed letters he had written to her when he was just 21 years old. Pooja brought up the subject and said that those letters were written five hours after she was born. She also questioned Alia about whether or not this made her envious. As heard from Pooja, Five hours after I was born to be precise… you don’t know this story, Alia? Oh, you are jealous suddenly because you didn’t get a letter?
In any case, Alia Bhatt responded to Pooja’s jab with humor and even admitted that she was really envious of what their father, Mahesh Bhatt, had done for his first kid. Alia Said, Yes, I’m very jealous.

Famous letters from Mahesh Bhatt to Pooja Bhatt soon after her birth
Pooja explained more about the letters and said her father had been drinking beer when he wrote them. She stated that she was born at a period when her father was a suffering person and even shared some poignant messages that her father wrote for her in those letters. Pooja brought up, Well, he wrote me a letter five hours after I was born, and he was drunk on a few beers and that’s all he could afford. ‘Be truthful and be fearless for your part of divinity and not of sin’. And he said, that ‘You were born at a time when I’m a struggling individual and some say your mother brought me luck, some say you will. You can be anything that you want in this universe and you’re the heartbeat of this unfathomed universe’… and he signed off—‘Call me Mahesh, Papa… call me what you want’.
According to Alia Bhatt, she prefers her mother Soni Razdan to her father Mahesh Bhatt
Alia revealed that she is closer to her mother than her father when questioned if she also has a particularly special bond with her mother, Soni Razdan. The actress explained the reason for this by saying that during her childhood, her mother remained by her side while her father was preoccupied with shooting movies. Alia went on to say that she is fiercely protective of her mother and desires to provide for her with everything in this world, saying, Yeah, that’s true. I mean [dad] wasn’t around for obvious reasons—he was working and putting food on the table. But mom was always there. I can’t imagine my life without my mother because her presence is so felt. I do feel very protective of her because she’s very sweet and naive.
