Yashovardhan Birla’s 100-Year-Old Mansion: Yashovardhan Birla, the young scion of the Birla company, showed off his luxurious property in Mumbai, which is around 100 years old.
The Yash Birla Group is a successful Indian conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai. Steel pipes, machine tools, cutting tools, tool holders, iron castings, power solutions, products, multipurpose engine pumps, electrical appliances, textiles, carpets, furnishing, lifestyle, InfoTech, publication, travel, electricity, property development, cotton ginning, and other industries are served by the company led by Yashovardhan Birla. The corporation, founded by successive members of the Birla family, has more than ten Indian subsidiaries.
Yashovardhan Birla is the Group’s youthful scion who, at the age of 23, took over the family business after his parents died in a catastrophic plane crash in 1990. He not only assumed the company’s duty but also elevated it to new heights. Yashovardhan Birla’s magnificent residence in Malabar Hills, Mumbai, is one of his cherished belongings among all the beautiful items he has.

The Birla House, built in the 1930s by Yashovardhan’s great grandpa, Rameshwar Das, is located in Malabar Hills, one of Mumbai’s most expensive neighborhoods. The mansion is around 5,412 square meters, and the entrance features mythological murals of Gods and Goddesses, as well as large statues and pillars on both sides of the home. Many artifacts and flora have also been placed around the entryway.

As Yash shows visitors around his home, he leads them to a unique area filled with images and memories of numerous Indian leaders. While discussing the chamber, Yash explains that his house is more than 100 years old and was built by his great grandpa, who was heavily involved in India’s freedom movement. Many prominent politicians used to visit the mansion and stay in this exclusive chamber during the time. Yash further says that the family holds satsangs and poojas in this specific area, which has a spiritual elevation, according to him.
The room includes a carpeted floor and the original sofas, which have been in the room for over 90 years and have been conserved. Framed photos of his late grandmother, Gopikumari Birla, father, Ashok Birla, mother, Sunanda Birla, and sister, Sujata Birla can be found on one of the room’s walls. The entire room has pure white walls with a few wallpapers, atop which are framed images of his late family members.

The unusual area leads the way along a hallway that also provides glimpses of several artifacts and paintings. The passage leads to a different room, the living room. The entire room is well-lit thanks to natural light streaming in through wide glass doors. The space retains the elegance of the past with large chandeliers, old wooden furniture, cane benches, and backrests.
As Yash directs his viewers to the room, the business magnate tells an intriguing narrative about it. He revealed that the family now occupies the space that Mahatma Gandhi formerly utilized as a living room. Not only that, but it was also here that India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, died.
The living area was tastefully decorated with cream-colored walls and framed black and white photographs of Yash’s forefathers and political figures. The space also includes a current sketch, which Yash describes as modern art he purchased.

The living room leads to a lush lawn with numerous trees and plants. A white marble temple with black granite floors stands in the center of the yard. Lord Vishnu’s idol can be found in the temple. Yash shares details about the temple, including the presence of Narmadeshwar shivling immediately adjacent to the shrine. Yash Birla believes in the power of spirituality, which is reflected in the temple.
There is a huge eating area adjacent to the temple where Yash Birla’s great-grandfather and the entire family congregated after the morning puja for breakfast. It was a family tradition to eat breakfast together in the morning.


The Gym Yashovardhan Birla’s 100-Year-Old Mansion
Yash is a fitness enthusiast as well as a spiritual guy. We couldn’t help but note the peculiar entrance of the elevator in the mansion, which has idols of Gods carved upon it as the entrepreneur escorted his viewers to his gym. The massive gym is located on the terrace of the Birla House and is fully equipped. Yash Birla also admits that the gym’s equipment is not completely new, with some dating back more than 20 years.
With antique paintings, modern art, and European canvases on the walls, as well as porcelain vases and figures, the entire house exuded old-world elegance. Yash Birla has successfully restored the house’s old charm even after the refurbishment. The mythological and mystical touches around the house were soothing and relaxing.
